How are Alaskans faring more than 3 years into the state’s budget deficit and job loss? One way to consider the employment status is to look at the Midtown Job Center in Anchorage and see how many job-seekers are visiting them, what employers are seeking in applicants and what jobs are available in the current economy. Alaska Public Media’s Kirsten Swann and Daniel Hernandez went there to answer some of those questions.

Alaska Public Media and area businesses, educational institutions, and community service organizations are partnering in a workforce development initiative, called Alaska @ Work, focused on high-need jobs in Alaska that do not require four-year degrees.
Through multimedia content and promotion, Alaska Public Media is amplifying the great work being done to help students, parents, educators, and businesses become aware of and connect with training, apprenticeships, resources and job searches to jump-start a career.
